LONDON: Malala Yousafzai met with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace here on Friday.
The 16-year-old Pakistani teenager who was shot by the Taliban last year in her hometown of Swat was accompanied by her father. Malala presented Queen Elizabeth a copy of her recently published autobiography ‘I Am Malala’ telling her that it was a great honour for her to be there.
After accepting the gift the Queen replied, “That’s very kind of you.”
During the meeting, Malala discussed the importance of education for every child.
Malala Yousafzai now resides in Birmingham after receiving treatment for her bullet wound. She has received worldwide recognition following the attack, addressing the United Nations and was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
